15 May - Royal Yorkshire Regiment Awards
Honoured as the Mayor of Richmond, to attend this evening’s Cocktail Party and Presentation Evening at the Town Hall in Richmond celebrating members of the 2nd & 4th Battalion of The Royal Yorkshire Regiment and the Cleveland & North Yorkshire Army Cadet Force with the guild of Fellmongers, Richmond, it was a privilege to join civic guests, members of the armed forces and distinguished guests including Revd Canon Martin Fletcher of St Mary’s, Richmond, and Baroness Harris of Richmond, in recognising dedication, service and achievement. The award recipients are a true representation of the high standards, commitment and professionalism shown throughout the regiment and cadet force, and it is wonderful to see these qualities recognised and celebrated by the Fellmongers.
Richmond is proud of its close connection with our adopted regiment, and this annual occasion continues to be a very special event in the town’s civic calendar.
My thanks to the Master, James Blenkiron, for his kind invitation and hospitality, and to the Clerk, Russell Lord, for his impeccable organisation and hard work in ensuring such a successful and enjoyable evening. Congratulations once again to all those recognised during the presentations.
