16 June - Greyfriars
We had a most enjoyable time at Greyfriars. It was lovely meeting old friends, with new faces.
We spoke about why Greyfriars was built. This was followed by a history of the Mayoral chains and their importance in promoting Richmond.
During comments afterwards there was surprise from some when Alan Lomax mentioned that his late wife Audrey had been a Mayoress. This was when Stuart Parsons was Mayor and had twelve Mayoresses. One for each month.
Our thanks to the warden for organising the visit and making sure that refreshments were available for all.
Cllr C.World
