14 Sep - Candlelight Tribute with the Nepalese Gurkha Community

It was a moving experience, along with the Mayoress and Mayor of Colburn, to attend the Candlelight Tribute with the Nepalese Gurkha community. This was to remember the hundreds of lives lost in the recent tragedy in Nepal.

Candles were laid out in the shape of Nepal and duly lit. Prayers were said, speeches made, a poem was read and names were placed in a Book of Condolence.

It was lovely meeting so many people. Some new and others friends for many years. I just wish the circumstances had been different.

One topic was prominent throughout the evening. More must happen to slow down global warming or there will be many more disasters and loss of life.
