Civic Sunday Service

On Sunday gone, I had the great honour of hosting the Mayor’s Civic Sunday service at the iconic St Mary’s Church in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
A heartfelt thank you to all our distinguished civic guests, including D.L. Linda Curran, The High Sheriff Andrew Lawson-Tancred, The Chair of North Yorkshire Council George Jabour, and the many Mayors from across the counties who joined us. We were also joined by the Royal Military Police, Joshua Stribling and Garrison Commander Charlie Anderson, along with representatives from the town’s guilds, clubs, and organisations, your presence made the occasion even more special. My sincere thanks also go to everyone who helped bring the day together, Rev’d Martin Fletcher for his uplifting and inspiring service, Cllr Olly Scott for his wonderful reading, and The Musicality Choir, whose beautiful voices filled the church with joy. A special note of thanks to Heather, our Town Clerk, and the office staff for their valued and vital organisation. Your hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran seamlessly. And of course, a huge thank you to those who provided the excellent teas and cakes that rounded off the morning so perfectly,  the cream scones were definitely a highlight and a favourite of the Mayoress. For me, one of the most moving moments was the singing of I Vow to Thee My Country and the National Anthem, truly stirring hymns in such a magnificent setting.Thank you all for making it a day to remember.
