Midget Gems Childcare

As Mayor of Richmond, I continue to be inspired by the dedication, compassion and community spirit shown by our local businesses and none more so than Midget Gems Childcare, who are proudly celebrating 20 wonderful years serving families across our town.

Founded in 2006 by Sarah Butler, and joined by her colleague Becca Smart in 2021, Midget Gems has become far more than a childcare provider. It has been a place of care, learning, laughter and love for hundreds of children who have passed through its doors over the years.

To build and grow a business over two decades is an incredible achievement in itself, but to do so while maintaining such high standards, warmth and commitment to children and families is truly remarkable.

Sarah and Becca’s hard work and dedication have quite rightly been recognised time and again, most recently in 2025 when Midget Gems achieved the highest possible Ofsted rating for the third time, an outstanding accolade that reflects the passion and professionalism of the entire team.

It was a real privilege to visit Sarah and her staff and to see first-hand the care and joy they bring to young lives every single day.

Congratulations to everyone at Midget Gems Childcare on this very special milestone, and thank you for everything you do for the children and families of Richmond. Here’s to many more years of success and happy memories.
