Richmond Meet Weekend

What an amazing Meet weekend. It was, as you are aware hot and dry, unlike many others, which have been cold, wet and even snowy.
How lovely to meet up with John Murphy and talking about his grandfather who I first met over thirty years ago.
A lovely Meet Dinner was held in The Town Hall. A real pleasure meeting old and making new friends.
Monday was an absolutely fantastic day. Nuns Close was bouncing from before 9am. More and more just kept turning up to participate. I knew that this Parade with Pipe bands floats, dancers, cyclists and others, would be special. Congratulations to Fiona for gathering and keeping everything organised.
On entering Hurgill Road, it was possible to see and appreciate the large crowds, who covered the whole route, with their clapping and cheering.
A special thanks to the cyclists immediately behind, who managed to not knock me over.
After a short break, we visited a packed Friary Gardens, for the music and to meet stallholders, locals and visitors alike.
An action packed few days and town was buzzing.
Our sincere thanks go to Emma, The Meet President and George her husband, for their hospitality. Also to all The Meet members and helpers who made it all such a success and everybody who took part in the parade.
It does not just happen. Could you spare some time to make Richmond Meet, even more successful?
