Rising of the Council - Investors in Richmond 2025
On Monday evening, I had the pleasure of chairing the Rising of the Council, during which Richmond Town Council proudly hosted this year’s Investors in Richmond Awards.
The Investors in Richmond Awards were created by Richmond Town Council to recognise outstanding voluntary service within our town. The title “Investor” is not about financial contribution, but about something far more valuable, the investment of time, care, skills, and commitment into the life of Richmond. Over the years, these awards have become a cherished part of our civic calendar, celebrating the people who quietly and consistently strengthen our community.
As Mayor, I am immensely proud to recognise the individuals and organisations who give so much of themselves for the benefit of others. Richmond is an exceptional town, built on community spirit, and these awards are a reminder of just how fortunate we are to have such dedicated volunteers.
This year’s individual Investors in Richmond Award recipients were Adam Dunwoodie, Moira White, Doreen Kay, Corrine Alsop, Warnock and Lynne Kerr, and the Richmond Information Centre. Each has made a meaningful and lasting contribution to the life of Richmond, and it was a privilege to recognise their service.
We were also delighted to recognise groups who received their Investors in Richmond Award twenty years ago and who continue to serve our community. The Fellmongers Apprentice Awards were represented by their Master, Russell Lord, Richmondshire Rugby Club by Jon Moulding and Mark Parsons, Richmondshire Cricket Club by Mr David Moffatt, the Richmond and District Civic Society by Mr Colin Grant and the Richmondshire Museum by Mr Mike Wood.
My sincere thanks to all our award recipients past, present, and future. Our town is richer because of its volunteers, and you truly are the beating heart of Richmond. Also a special thanks to all the prospers, the catering team and all those involved behind the scenes to make this event possible.
Cllr C Tate
Mayor of Richmond
