Last year, Mr Barry Heap retired from his role as the Town Crier of Richmond, a post which perfectly suited his character and one he had proudly held since 2006.
As we emerge from the quieter, locked down months of the coronavirus pandemic and look forward to the return of our events, we would like to find someone to take over this much talked about, traditional position.
The Richmond Town Crier would expect to proclaim approximately 15 events throughout the year. They would make regular contact with the visiting public during the summer months and take part in Civic Parades along with hosting the Boundary Walk which takes place every 7 years and includes 15 Town Cries to be made in one day!
If you feel that you could carry this role forward for us then we would love to hear from you and welcome any applications, along with requests for further information. Depending on the popularity of the request, we hope to arrange a ‘contest’ between the applicants to be judged in front of the public.
