John Bevis is a freelance writer, whose subjects range from poetry, art and natural history to biography. His previous books include 'The Keartons: Inventing Nature Photography' and Aaaw to Zzzzzd: The Words of Birds'. His experiences of visiting, using and joining libraries, which led to him acquiring a membership card for every library in the country, are collected in his latest book, 'An English Library Journey'. John Bevis divides his time between Ironbridge in Shropshire and London.
